Our History
Founded as Opera San Jose Veterans Chorus in 2016 by then-General Director Larry Hancock, our chorus began as a community outreach organization dedicated to supporting homeless veterans in San Jose. Larry was our first music director and together we served those communities until Larry's retirement from the opera company in early 2020.
IN 2021 we re-emerged as the South Bay Military Veterans Chorus under a new organization and a new musical director, Jacqueline Mardell, with an expanded mission to serve, through our music, those who have served us. We perform two ticketed concerts each year and partner with a veterans service organization such as Blue Star Moms to bring awareness and donations to their worthy causes. We also perform if asked at veterans observances such as Four Chaplains Day and Veterans Day, among others.
If you would like us to perform for your veterans event, please fill out our contact form.
MISSION:
“To serve with music those who have served us.”
